Felt: Woman Tonight

I was just reading the interview I did with Slug back in August of '08 and was reminded of a question I asked Slug: Any plans on another felt colab? "yes indeed, but i can't tell you who is producing it, nor who it is dedicated to. those are still secrets". In anticipation of the 3rd Felt album coming out (whenever that may be) I wanted to post a little something. Woman Tonight is hands down my favorite song by the duo. So check out Slug & Murs flowing over a beautiful beat (Tommy Butler's "Prison Song" is the sample if anyone was curious).

Murs: Break Up (The OJ Song)

Now even though Murs decided to go somewhat mainstream his newest album, Murs For President, still has some pretty nice songs on it. Even though he signed with Warner Bros. I still think Murs is "Making Underground Raw Shit". Check out the music video.

The Grouch & Eligh: !BOOM! ft. Slug of Atmosphere

Not sure how I feel about this song yet... waiting for it to grow on me. I like the black & white video though. The song was produced by Amplive and features cameos by Mistah FAB and Aesop Rock. Slug's verse is def on point. Check it out.

The Grouch & Eligh: Say G&E!

Thought I'd post a couple of G&E's videos on here... love the beat on this one and the footage is nice as well. I'm especially digging the part in the video when all the city names appear in the street. You can start to tell what direction the where aiming for with the video. "We'd speak on telephones, tried to work for the man, mighta called your home, to sling you a scam".

We Made It 09'

Song I just heard today off the "Curly Tops And Nautica Jackets" mixtape. The name alone has me reminiscing about old school clothing brands (remember Stussy and Phat Farm?). Anyways the song has some cool dudes in it such as, Diz Gibran, Blu, Dom Kennedy and more. Check it out.

Atmosphere: Millie Fell Off The Fire Escape

It hasn't been that long since Atmosphere has come out with some new music but still I can't help but say, finally! I'm diggin' this song of the new EP "Leak At Will". Just gave it a few listens... seems like it's about a girl who was in a desperate situation and decided to rob a department store. Anyways give it a listen!

Blaq Poet: Voices

I can't believe I haven't put this song on yet! I heard it around 3 years ago and is def my favorite BP song. The song was produced by DJ Premier so you know the beats gonna be top notch. The eerie beat is def what draws you into this song and Blaq's lyrics keep you listening. Throughout the song Blaq hears "voices" of rappers who've died (Tupac, Biggie, Eazy E, Big Pun, Big L, O.D.B. and so on). Blaq's consumption of Hennessy is causing these "voices" ("I'm hearin voices, gotta stop drinkin' that Henney, I know that sh** is poison"). He proceeds through the first 2 verses rapping as if he was Tupac and then as if he was Biggie. The verse with Tupac's "voice" talks about how people focused on the negative lyrics he wrote about and not the positive and how people act out those negative songs in real life. "All these n****'s tryin' to live thug life, they didn't listen when i was spittin' on the mic, all they heard was Makeveli the great, they didn't hear when I was comin' in a positive way, like "Keep Ya' Head Up" and "Brenda With A Baby", n****'s just love to think that I was crazy". Biggie's "voice" talks about how he's disappointed with New York rap, how Puffy hustled him in a way for money and he also mentions Jay-Z. "Looks like ya' n****'s gotta go harda and f.y.i. I'm pissed at Sean Carter". Def give this song a listen. Great beat, great lyrics and a great concept.
